Vermont & the Apple Orchard

We lingered in Vermont for a few nights on our way from Niagara Falls, NY to Prince Edward Island, Canada. Our glampsite was on Grand Isle- in an area called Apple Island.

We rode our first "car-ferry" which the girls thought was pretty magical. We also got our first taste of "apple picking" at an actual orchard! It was so fun for the girls and we're still enjoying our bounty from that day. YUM!

That first night on the island, we ate at a highly recommended restaurant, Blue Paddle Bistro. We are raving fans now: De-lic-ious!!!! We had the pleasure of meeting the owner/head chef, Phoebe, and we had excellent service at the only table left in the hopping joint: the "chef table". It was up close and personal with the action of the kitchen, and was a fun spot to hear the hustle and bustle of the chefs while enjoying the fruit of all their labor. Did I mention that it was SO GOOD!?! It certainly has been my favorite meal to date. (We recommend the gorgonzola-crusted filet mignon and the soy-glazed salmon.)

The glamping site at Apple Island Resort had un-blocked, views of Lake Champlain and a little playground that we visited several times with the girls. Clean, beautiful, and spacious: we would certainly go back. (It also had a golf course and heated pool but we saved something to experience on a return visit.)

The next day was spent exploring the island on our bikes, and enjoying the glampsite. We rode to a local vineyard and did a bit of wine-tasting. A small but beautiful vineyard with a unique take on several varietals of wine. A fortuitous sight along our route that made for a delicious snacking detour. We enjoyed the beautiful countryside of Vermont and were grateful for the quiet stop before coming to the next bustling city. Yet another beautiful state to explore along our adventure!

I would love to return to Vermont someday: any recommendations of what we should put on our list to explore next time?
